Wines of the Month |
||
| by Fred’s Avalon Liquors | ||
| A to Z Pinot Noir Super sexy and spicy on the nose with aromas of apricots, blueberries, Bing cherries, blood oranges, gingerbread, white pepper, sweet Eastern spices, violets, tea and sweet pipe tobacco. In the mouth, the wine has refreshing acidity with silky tannins and rich flavors mirroring the aromatics. The 2009 A to Z Oregon Pinot Noir restrains power while balancing richness and purity with a clean and refreshing finish. Classically proportioned and built for midterm aging, the wine will continue to build weight and structure with cellaring. | ||
| Dante Pinot Noir This inaugural Pinot Noir for the Dante line has a brilliant garnet color with aromas of sour cherry, dried orange peel, a hint of clove over a back drop of earthy leather. The palate is rich and supple on the entry with pomegranate, sandalwood spice and finishes with a balanced touch of cocoa and coffee. This wine is an incredible value in the market place and better than most; dare I say all Pinot Noirs within its competitive set and many at twice the price. This wine pairs well with sundried tomato pesto pasta, Rabbit Ragu with soft polenta or roasted pork loin with balsamic glazed Brussel sprouts. Drink now through 2012. 5,000 cases produced. | ||
| Cloudline Pinot Noir On the nose, there is an immediate burst of bright, fresh red fruits, including strawberry and raspberry, followed by an earthy quality. On the palate, the wine has fine texture, soft tannins, good acidity and a strong core of fruit. It is a wine that offers immediate pleasure, on its own, or better yet, in the company of a delicious meal. | ||
| Wyatt Pinot Noir This fantastic blend features great Pinot richness, with a streak of acidity to keep it balanced and fresh. Ripe currant, strawberry and earthy, spicy notes jump from the glass; this wine has a very fragrant, sensual style. 88 Points Wine Advocate | ||
| Aquinas Pinot Noir Cherry aromas are layered in this deeply-colored Pinot Noir, and secondary notes of mint and forest floor can be found in the nose as well. Fresh red currant flavors are concentrated on the palate, and well-balanced by a nice earthiness and mild spice reminiscent of coriander and sandalwood. Full-bodied for a Pinot Noir but matched with a mouthwatering acidity, this style of red wine is unusually versatile. Velvety tannins stretch out the long finish with a trace of red ripe fruit as the final flavors linger. * Please note all wines listed above run between $10-$20 | ||
